About the Bega Valley Sewerage Program
The Bega Valley Sewerage Program consists of upgrading the majority of the sewage treatment infrastructure in the Bega Valley Shire. It includes the construction of:
- new sewerage schemes in the villages of Cobargo, Wolumla, Candelo, Kalaru and Wallaga Lake; and
- upgrades to 5 existing sewage treatment plants at Bega, Tathra, Tura Beach, Merimbula and Bermagui.
The program also includes the operations and maintenance of the new and existing sewage treatment plants for 10 years, with an option for Council at its discretion to extend the agreement for a further 5 years. All collection systems will remain the responsibility of Council.
The Program is to be carried out by an Alliance between Bega Valley Shire Council and a private sector company - TESIB, a Tenix Alliance business. Environmental Resources Management (ERM) is in a sub-alliance arrangement with TESIB.
